If you're new to Copenhagen, chance is that you will pay Tivoli a visit. The old amusement park, located right in the centre of the city, neighboring the central station, is always worth visiting. Fairytales come true in Tivoli, and the park itself has seen the likes of H. C. Andersen and Walt Disney leave their clear marks inside it.
At Christmas time, Tivoli is even more exciting than in the summer. Hundreds of trees lid up with hundreds of thousands of lights, beautiful settings with hearts, stars, and everything that goes with it, all topped off with the Tivoli-feeling, stimulating all senses. The wonderful smell of Danish (and International) specialties from the many kitchens around the park leave your nose satisfied, and makes you drewl.
Tivoli is a place that children love to visit, also in the wintertime. Landscapes of snow with both Rudolph and Santa Claus strafing around in the park, makes a perfect setting for a wonderful day in the life of your child. Children of all ages will gain something from a visit to Tivoli, although most fares are best suited for children aged 10 and up. There are, however, quite a few rides for toddlers as well.
Entrance to Tivoli for the Christmas 2011 season is 95 DKK per adult. Children aged 7 and below are admitted entrance for free. Tickets for the rides cost 25 DKK, and most rides cost 1-2 tickets, but a few cost 3 tickets (that's per person!). You can buy a free-ride-card for 195 DKK per person - regardless of age.
